CATCH ADVENTURE
At the Tackle Box, we have a variety of ongoing activities, opportunities,
and space to pique the curiosity of all learners!
What’s in the Tackle Box
The Tackle Box offers a variety of activities for children, students, adults, and families. Current opportunities, activities, and classes can be found on our calendar.
Books, Books, Books!
Packed with books from floor to ceiling, our library sparks the imaginations of readers of all ages. Climb the ladder or steps to the treehouse to choose from our collection. You can bring history to life, live in other worlds, or experience timeless classics at The Tackle Box.
Hooked on Books
Share your thoughts and your love of books with other passionate readers. Our “Hooked on Books” Club selects texts for the Fall and Winter seasons. Join us as we explore the fiction and non-fiction texts found in our library with exciting group discussions and thematic activities that support the text.
Tatman Treehouse
Heads up! In our authentic, hand-crafted treehouse, kids find the perfect place to play, enjoy good reads, and plant the seeds for lifelong learning. Branch out with selections of memorable stories and moments in the Tatman Treehouse.
Get Cookin’
Cooking educates and empowers children and families to make healthy food choices. Our complete kitchen offers a place for hands-on learning with fresh foods, time-tested recipes, proven culinary techniques (like canning and baking), and preparation of fun, sweet treats. Classes for groups of all ages with real culinary artists are available for you to experience and enjoy.
Karla Corner
Karla Corner promotes 21st-century skills, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity through play, hands-on opportunities, and active fun. Developmentally appropriate materials meet children’s educational, social, and emotional needs. This magical space, dedicated to the memory Mark Karla, offers Play Dough®, puzzles, markers, crayons, Lincoln Logs®, Legos®, and more.
Let’s Lego®
We love Legos®! Lego® blocks are fun and developmentally appropriate for kids of all ages. Our giant Lego® wall in Karla Corner lets kids build from our very own “tackle boxes” or create and design structures from their imaginations. The collection even includes Duplo® building blocks for our younger visitors. You are never too old to build with Legos®.
Books Before Bedtime
What could be better than reading a book before bedtime? Toddlers and PreK students, accompanied by parent(s) or an adult, are invited to The Tackle Box for playtime followed by the reading of a specially-selected story and fun activities.
Family Night Fun
Join us for inexpensive fun and family time together. Board games, movies, build/create projects and refreshments are all part of our specially selected family nights. Family nights are free but require registration. Make time together with your family a priority at The Tackle Box.
Sweet Fridays
The Tackle Box’s warm and “homey” atmosphere makes every visit one to remember. Please join us on Sweet Fridays to meet with friends, enjoy a fresh, homemade baked treats and cup of Joe from our coffee/tea bar.
Quiet Hours
As an educational facility, The Tackle Box is committed to learning. Quiet Hours are open to students in grades 5-12 on Mondays through Thursday, from 3:00-5:00 pm. Come in and work on homework, delve into a project, use our FREE WiFi for learning, or explore our collection of fabulous books.
Tech Time
We’re preparing students and our community for the future. New technologies, innovations, and inventions are evolving to change the way the world works and communicates. Our free Wi-Fi access helps kids explore and experience exciting technologies and digital experiences.
Out of the Box
The fun and adventure of The Tackle Box extends beyond the walls. There’s plenty to explore outside, and our activities are OTB… Out of the Box. From hiking and biking to fishing and finding incredible creatures, the possibilities to get up, get outside and get a fresh air experience are endless.
