DESCRIPTION:Once again\, family and friends of Hooversville area veterans (living or deceased) are invited to honor those who served our country by purchasing a recognition banner. This recognition comes in the form of banners displayed on utility poles throughout our community. A partnership with Hooversville Borough and the 13th Star VFW Post 7565 organization will help us achieve the best outcome for this project. \n\n\n\nRequired submission materials: \n\n\n\n— Completed Hooversville Heroes Form – (click to open & print)— A check for $175 made payable to Hooversville VFW Auxiliary (Post 7565). — Clean headshot photo of your veteran\, no smaller than a 4 x 6 photo— If mailing your materials…you will also need to send a return/self-addressed\, stamped envelope for your picture to be returned to you— All materials (whether mailed/emailed/dropped off) must be submitted to The Tackle Box \n\n\n\nBanner orders/materials must be placed/received by Tuesday\, April 1st. \n\n\n\n\n\nPayment is due at the time the order is placed.Checks made payable to Hooversville VFW Auxilliary Post 7565.

SUMMARY:Under the Stars: Movie Night
DESCRIPTION:In 2017\, North Star Middle School students attended a viewing of the movie “Wonder.” This opportunity was available through a partnership between the Tyler Shaffer Service to Others Fund (Community Foundation)\, Somerset Trust\, and Richland Cinemas. As a teacher\, I believe the message of this movie was powerful. \n\n\n\nBased on the bestselling book\, the movie Wonder shares August Pullman’s inspiring and heartwarming story. Born with facial differences that\, up until now\, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school\, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the fifth grade and middle school. His family\, his new classmates\, and the larger community struggle to find compassion\, acceptance\, and understanding. The story of Auggie is a story of bullying\, its reality\, and its consequences. It is also a story of choosing to be kind. Wonder is the perfect back-to-school family movie. \n\n\n\nI have always told my students that changing a person’s mind begins with changing their heart. Children and parents should see this movie. \n\n\n\nPlease join us. . . . . I know it will be a wonderful experience for everyone.
